Pratt House

The house is designed for weekend use on a one acre site. Facing south, the site slopes approximately 60 feet to the water. The entry level for the house contains the kitchen, den, bathroom and great room. The concept for the house was based around the creation of a great room that would become in essence a treehouse. Surrounded on three sides by floor to ceiling windows, the room is at branch height of the 100 year old oak trees that populate the site. The trees filter light in the summer and allow light in the winter. There is a 4 foot overhang that protects the house from direct sun in the summer and creates a cozy protected feeling. The lake level has two bedrooms and two baths with a 40' X 16' deck.
